Having been involved in the design of various parts of this playspace since 2002, we were delighted to be asked to upgrade and update this prominent local playspace - affectionately called Train Park by the locals.
Given the depth of feeling about the playspace, interventions were careful and measured, to retain the character of the space, but extend the play opportunities, make it more accessible and bring parts up to Standard.
In particular, a new junior playspace was designed around the existing train; interpretive graphics included around the station, the range of activities extended to include many more with movement; a cubby village and butterfly roof built on the sandpit area; and the nature play area enhanced with unique spinning doors and natural hangout spots.
